ALAN’S SATURDAY POP SLOT #33 – GIMME SOME TRUTH by JOHN LENNON
Saturday, May 30th, 2009From the 1971 album Imagine. I didn’t discover this song until it resurfaced on the b-side of the postumous single release of the song Love in 1982, then I wore the grooves off the record. George Harrison on Guitar, Klaus Voormann on bass.
If you haven’t heard the track in full, it’s well worth seeking out.
Peace

GAS #3
Tuesday, May 26th, 2009Here’s part three of Jamie’s Groovy Arcade Stories from issue 56 of Commodore User, May 1988. Elvis the cat was actually a really life mog that belonged to me and our friend Sharon Elphick (now an infamous artist/photographer – see her .com) when we all lived in a big shared house near Worthing seafront. Unfortunately another friend named Damian trained Elvis to be a fighting cat, so we never went near the poor thing.

And here’s a special bonus – an exclusive image of Tank Girl, on the cover of issue 69, June 1989. This picture has been buried for 20 years exactly!

Peace brothers and sisters

ALAN’S SATURDAY POP SLOT #33 – SLEEPING GAS by JULIAN COPE
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009The Arch Drude in 1988 giving us a busker’s rendition the old Teardrop Explodes’ classic Sleeping Gas on Mathew Street in Liverpool, a stone’s throw from the infamous Eric’s club, where it was first performed. I’ve just re-read Cope’s Head On book, which I first read in the mid-ninties, I’d forgotten what an absolute luntatic he is, and how much I love him.
So I’m also belatedly digging last year’s double cd Black Sheep
